Barstool Review: Haymaker Bar & Kitchen in Chelsea

Hey Chelsea: it’s time to check out Haymaker Bar & Kitchen. Recently opened on 29th Street, Haymaker Bar is the child of Dave Smith and Jeff Anzulewicz whom met at Dempsey’s where they tended bar together. The two of them have both worked at places like Pig’ N’ Whistle, Jack Russell’s pub and Half Pint and The Haymaker concept was developed through their experience working in Irish bars, with this concept focusing on the quality of the food and drinks. Tristan Colegrove, the chief bartender, was most recently at Berg’n in Brooklyn.

The Haymaker Bar & Kitchen is a welcomed addition to the dive bar-heavy ‘hood.  Colegrove has developed an amazing selection of craft beer – both rotating and seasonal as well as some solid standards – that are available in 8oz, 12 oz and 16 oz selections.  This is not the place that you are going to want to go drink a Budweiser or Stella because they do not serve these run-of-the-mill brews.

You can find beers like the Allagash Fluxus 2015, Reissdorf Klosch, and what is considered the number one craft beer in NYC, Other Half IPA. They also have a decent selection of Ciders .
