Once a veritable no man’s land, Silver Lake has really come into its own, now offering a serious selection of bars and lounges to grab a drink. If you’re on the Eastside, be sure to check out one of these 4 spots.
It’s time to get old school with this one. The Virgil will make you feel like you’re in a 1920’s movie stuck in a saloon with tasty drinks. There are two parts to this bar, a more intimate side with a jukebox and then there’s the other side with a DJ or live music and a dance floor. They even sometimes have live comedy specials too. Which side of the bar will you be found hanging at?
Cha Cha Lounge
Looking for something a little bolder, low maintenance but still fun? Cha Cha Lounge might be it. Before becoming what it is now, the previous bar used to be a spot where drag queens performed. Immediately after opening the doors, you’ll feel like you walked into an old-school Mexican/Hawaiian party of some sort.
One of the newer spots on this side of town you should really consider popping into is The Friend. The local bar offers a pleasant and warm atmosphere within it’s cutely decorated interior walls and furniture in hopes to make the bar feel, you know cozy like you’re at your friend’s place. They’ve got a solid drink menu that you can’t go wrong with. And take it from us, they’ve got some heavy-handed bartenders in the best way possible.
Representing Silver Lake’s culture, 4100 Bar is full of fun, full of art and pretty darn eclectic. Welcoming more than just hipsters, swing by to grab a cool brew or enjoy a special cocktail that won’t break the bank. Bonus points that they serve BBQ on weekends too!
