Magic City Innovation District ® – Little Haiti (MCID) has just opened BaseCamp, an immersive arts and culture park located in the heart of Miami’s Little Haiti neighborhood. The venue is designed as a gathering place where nature, art, food, music and culture intersect in one innovative, cutting-edge complex.

From Wednesday, Dec. 4 through Sunday, Dec. 8, visitors to BaseCamp can experience several immersive art installations including Illumina — an exhibit previously featured at the music and culture festival, Burning Man — as well as Frequency, which launched at South by Southwest, and The Cloud, which was created for, and first debuted at Burning Man 2019.  Illumina, a more long-term fixture in the park, focuses on the development and visualization of collective consciousness, powered by heartbeats. Sensors measure participants’ heartbeats and turn that energy into a visual, aural and mystical experience.

Food and beverage offerings showcasing local and national culinary talent will also be presented throughout BaseCamp. The Commissary food truck will showcase a rotating menu of locally inspired cuisine, and internationally renowned celebrity chef Todd English, as the first chef-partner to develop its menu. Additionally, La Santa Taqueria will offer a selection of hand-crafted tacos, street corn and other casual, authentic Mexican recipes for guests to enjoy at one of the communal tables in the shaded dining pavilion. Devia Juice Bar will offer fresh, cold-pressed juices made from organic fruits and vegetables, as well as acai bowls and coffees.

Craft cocktails, wine and beer will also be available for purchase at BaseCamp’s two bars, The Flamingo Bar and Agave Worm – a retro spin on a tequila and mezcal bar.
