Bar Gonzo Brings 70s-Inspired Flair, Cocktails to Hell’s Kitchen

Looking for a place for drinks in Hell’s Kitchen? Look no further than Bar Gonzo, the new 70s-inspired spot with a retro yet sophisticated vibe. Think Las Vegas meets the Old San Juan Hotel, with shades of pink, green, blue and gold splashed throughout the bi-level space.

If that’s not enough to get you excited, this will: the drinks were created by mix master Tim Cooper. Selections include a piquant Yuzu Shiso Margarita with Tequila Cabeza, yuzu juice, agave nectar and shisho leaf and the Songbird (photo, below) with gin, Aperol, yellow chartreuse and lemon.

The menu also includes large-format punches and tiki drinks and well classic like a Negroni (photo, below) made with Fords gin and Cinzano 1757 sweet vermouth. Craving something bubbly? Try the Jasmine Bellini Blossom with jasmine tea-infused gin, peach, lime and sparkling wine.

Basically, there is something for everyone, and then some.


With a menu helmed by Chef R.L. King (formerly of il buco, Hundred Acres and The McKittrick Hotel), bites are influenced by California and Mediterranean flavors and include Bacon Cracker Jacks (yes!), Braised Judith Point Squid, Long-Stemmed Artichokes (pictured below) and the Latch Key Pizza – a take on the frozen french bread pizza, a childhood fave.
