Black Tree’s Bacon Bourbon Cocktail and Ice Cream

Black Tree’s outpost in Brooklyn  is doing some exciting things at their newest branch in Williamsburg. This “all local, highest quality” establishment is doing a bourbon and bacon pairing which is worth taking note of. If the words ‘bourbon’ and ‘bacon’ aren’t enough to grab your attention (they really should be) then let’s throw in ice-cream, brunch, and cocktails.

The Hogwash Cocktail

The ingredients includes their bacon washed bourbon, maple, muddled thyme and ginger beer. Recipe under the photo.

Thyme Bacon Bourbon Cocktails - Black Tree

The Hogwash Drink Recipe (Above drink)

  • 2 oz bacon washed bourbon (Black Tree Special)
  • Muddle Lemon Thyme
  • ¼ oz maple
  • Top with ginger beer

Black Tree Bk’s bacon bourbon cocktail dubbed “The Hogwash” is part of the establishments new Sundaes on Sunday prix fixe ($22) menu featuring a collaboration with Must Love Ice Cream and Smithfield. The menu showcases some tasty pork-themed items (all expertly prepared with bacon) for the month of August. That’s right, these majestic creations will no longer be available after August 31st. So to ask what Seinfeld would… what’s the deal with the drink? Well it’s comprised of; 2 oz bacon washed bourbon (Black Tree Special) Muddle Lemon Thyme, ¼ oz maple, and topped with a splash of ginger beer.

Black Tree Bourbon Ice Cream

As for the ice cream it’s made up of Goat Milk Maple Ice Cream, swirled with Smithfield Bacon Chocolate Ice Cream, presented in a bourbon Konery cone, with a Chocolate Magic Shell. Cocoa Pebbles and Smithfield Bacon are also embedded on the rim. Bacon Flowers and additional Cocoa Pebbles ‘Krispies’ top off the creamy indulgence.

Another thing I can tell you about this place that makes it makes a plethora of other tasty cocktails. Also that whole farm to table thing translates to their ingredients and garnishes when it comes to their drinks, or at least it did when I was there. They are fresh as a flat top in the 90’s. This is a corner spot with lots of light and room for a DJ so they have turntables at times as well. Black Tree  Bk’s black magic is that they sucker you in with the food but then are able to keep you there for the drinks.
