Celebrate Hot Toddy Day On January 11th With The Black Barrel Toddy

As the frigid chill of January sets in across most of the world, we mark our calendar each year to celebrate Hot Toddy Day on January 11th. While many reach for whiskey as the base for their Hot Toddy recipes, we love to switch it up and use rum as the base for this bone warming classic.  Jones Long, South Portfolio Ambassador at Collectif 1806, suggests using Mount Gay Rum and shares, “A hot toddy made at home should always be personalized and make you feel good.”

We couldn’t agree more, so here is Jones’ Black Barrel Toddy recipe to warm your soul on Hot Toddy Day and all winter long.

Black Barrel Toddy Recipe

  • 2 oz Mount Gay Black Barrel
  • .5 oz rich honey syrup (2 parts honey to one part warm water, stirred well)
  • .25 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 2 dashes of Angostura bitters (optional)
  • 4 oz hot water
  • Cinnamon stick for garnish
Warm up glassware with warm water. Boil water. Dump out water from glass and add all ingredients to your warm mug. Stir gently with a spoon or cinnamon stick.
