Why do you think a takeover at PUBLIC makes sense for Coupette?
I love the philosophy of PUBLIC; making luxury accessible to all and stripping the fuss away from it. I come from a 5-star hotel background and stepped away from that to create Coupette, where our philosophy is simplicity and discovery. That represents layers of detail and quality, and a level of thought that most people don’t go to, but presented in a way which is approachable and accessible. I feel like the philosophies are aligned.
What do you think will translate the best with the drink menu that you’re creating?
I think that the Champagne Pina Colada translates with guests everywhere we go. Partly because it sounds a bit ridiculous. And it is!! But it’s also a celebration. Champagne has this image of being too exclusive to play with. We wanted to turn that on its head.
Why are exchanges like this fun in general? What do you think cocktail fans have to gain?
The opportunity for us to showcase what we do to a whole new audience is exciting and also an opportunity to learn. The taste and likes of international guests are always different and this gives us great insight into what our international clientele is looking for. For guests, it’s an opportunity to try something completely different from the comfort of their home city.
