Dandelyan is one of the most celebrated bars in the entire world, ok, likely the absolute MOST celebrated at the moment. Having been named the “World’s Best Cocktail Bar” by both Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards and World’s 50 Best Bars Awards, Dandelyan shocked the world by announcing that they would close in January to debut an entirely new concept in the space.
If you can’t get to London before their doors close, consider a trip to Washington D.C. where they will be bringing their cocktailing experience over to The Gibson for a pop-up on November 26th and 27th.
To recreate Dandelyan in D.C., the pop-up will include Mr. Lyan’s imaginative cocktails, with a menu designed around a “Modern Life of Plants” concept that aims to explore industrialization and large-scale food systems. It’s divided into three sections: Mint, Grape and Hops, with ingredients ranging from moss vermouth to cream of snails. In what might be one of Dandelyan’s very last pop-up before they close, this is a chance for stateside hospitality “geeks” to experience a piece of cocktailian history.

The US (like the UK) is always exciting from a food and drink perspective, and especially so now with the public interest in cocktails, ingredients and culture so high. With this in mind, I’ve always been attracted to capital cities and after a talk there a few months ago, I fell in love with the city and its bars and it felt very different to other US cities I’d visited, so was really excited by some discussions we had with the bartenders there to come across and work together on something. The final pop-ups of Dandelyan seemed perfect!
