Death & Co. Owners Planning A Cocktail Lounge on Rivington

They just opened up Lower East Side cocktail den Nitecap, but owners David Kaplan and Alex Day – the forces behind Death & Co. – are already planning another lounge. The guys are gunning for the space at 151 Rivington Street to open up a subterranean cocktail spot, and have submitted their application to Community Board 3, which state that Cedd Moses and Eric Needleman from LA’s 213 Ventures are also involved. This won’t be the first time Kaplan and Day have collaborated with Moses and Needleman – they also opened Honeycut in Los Angeles together.

The application and floor plan includes 13 tables and a long bar with 12 stools. A sample cocktail menu showcases the team’s creativity with drinks like the Revolver: bourbon, coffee liqueur and orange bitters and the Loophole with brown butter-washed vodka, pear eau de vie, sherry and cinnamon. While there are sure to be updated before the new place actually debuts, we like where they are going with it.

Stay tuned.
