Midtown East is pretty much devoid of cool spots to drink, but The Horny Ram is aiming to change that. This week, we suggest that you head over there to try their The Drink Formerly Known As cocktail that was created by Cody Goldstein.
“The Drink Formerly Known As is an homage to one of the most charismatic artist of our time, Prince,” explains Goldstein. “He was known for his crushed purple outfits and I wanted to play off of the color and cheekiness of his name change “The Artist formerly known as.”
This drink is unique by adding Blue Flower Tea which changes color when added with a certain PH level of acid. “I also love the color contrast of purple and yellow with the lemon wheel,” adds Goldstein.
The Drink Formerly Known As Recipe
- 1.5 oz New Amsterdam gin
- 2 oz Blue Pea Flower tea
- 1 oz lemon juice
- .75 oz lavender syrup
- club soda, to fill
Combine Gin, Blue Pea, lemon and lavender syrup into a shaking tin. Fill half-way with ice and shake for 5 seconds. Strain into a Collins glass with ice. Top with club soda and garnish with a lemon wheel.
