Memorial Day Weekend is the the unofficial start of summer and the holiday we eagerly await all year; pretty much ffrom the moment the sunsets on Labor Day. For us adults, it awakens the big kid inside of us and fills us with nostalgia of summer break.
Of course, as adults, we have the benefit of being able to indulge over the holiday weekend with some patriotic libations. So we head to The Springs in Greenpoint broken for the red, white & blue Rocket Pop slushie that is an homage to the classic ice cream truck treat.
Create by owner, Anthony Serignese, says of drink’s inspiration, “It is totally based my favorite super hot day summer popsicle. It is basically a giant icey! Blueberry, Lemon and cherry flavored!” He also report that the slushie will also make a comeback for July 4th weekend.
Rocket Pop Recipe and Preparation
- 2 0z Gin
- 0.5 oz Simple Syrup
- 3/4 oz Lemon Juice
- Floater of Housemade Raspberry Cordial
- Floater of Blue Curacao
- Housemade Raspberry cordial
- 4 part Raspberry Puree
- 2 parts Sugar : 1 Vodka
- Combine all ingredients, allow sugar to dissolve stirring frequently, when totally dissolved, strain into dated quart container.
