Tomato Season is in prime peak this time of year around August / September in New York and nothing hits like that ripe sweetness perfectly balanced acidity of a late summer tomato. Bartender Trevor Easton Langer created the Caprese Martini at Jac’s on Bond to honor the beloved fruit (fun fact: the tomato classified as a vegetable by the US Supreme Court in 1893 because of culinary applications).
Trevor explains the origin of the cocktail, “The Caprese Martini emerged in an attempt to combine two of my favorite things — caprese salads and martinis. It is savory and herbaceous while familiar. This savory sip joins a roster of cocktails that are inclusive and adventurous.”
