Monday, February 29th is a day that only come around once every 4 years, so SideBar is hosting “The Ultimate Leap Year Birthday Party,” a children’s-themed, adult birthday bash featuring face painting, balloon animals and – most important – free drinks from 7 p.m. until midnight for anyone who is celebrating a birthday this Leap Day, plus $5 shots all night for all. Wine and Dine

Head to Obicà Flatiron on Monday, February 29th for a special wine pairing dinner highlighting the Ronchi di Cialla Family Winery, led by Ivan Rapuzzi whose parents founded the winery in 1970. The specially curated dinner will feature dishes including a Salumi board, Pici pasta with porcini mushroom and slow-brasised beef, all perfectly paired from selections from the winery. On Tuesday, March 1st, Blue Ribbon Bakery Kitchen hosts “Une Soirée Beaujoloise” featuring the wines of Lapierre, Foillard and Cadette. A family-style dinner will be served along with delicious wines, including several vintages of the flagship wines from both Lapierre and Foillard along with some other exciting pours. Fancy some Sake? 1 or 8 in Williamsburg known for its incredible Japanese “free-style” cuisine is offering a four-course Tasting Menu with Sake pairings.  Dishes like Wild Boar Hoba Yaki and Blue Cheese Mousse will be expertly paired with Sake by Tenryo Shuzo & Miwa Shuzo. Claudette also gets into the wine and dine spirit on Tuesday, with their “Black Winter Truffle” dinner. Guests will savor six truffle-centric dishes – including barley risotto, Sasso Chicken Demi Dueil and black truffle brie, along with a fine wine paired with each. Tickets are $245, available here.

In Good Spirits

The Good Spirits tasting event is back for it’s seventh year, and there are even more things to drinks! The event – taking place on Thursday, March 3rd at la.venue – will feature the best chefs and mixologists in the city, featuring venues and brands including Anfora, Catskill Provisions, Monument Lane, Owl’s Brew, RedFarm, The Wren, Wassail and many more.
