Heading into 2020, New Year’s Eve is sure to be the party of the decade. Coincidentally, some bars in Los Angeles are taking some notes of parties past and planning their celebration with a specific decade theme.

From a jazzy 1920’s Gatsby bash to a gnarly ’90s prom, pop the bubbly and bust out the costumes and check out seven throwback-themed parties not to be missed.

Roaring ’20s Party at The Victorian

Come celebrate a new decade in old fashion! This year the Basement Tavern in Santa Monica is transforming into a 1920s prohibition speakeasy. But don’t worry, no coppers are going to pinch anyone for sipping some giggle-water at this shindig. This will be a night of immense celebrations to introduce The Roaring 20’s to a new era. So guests are encouraged to come draped in their most apropos attire. That’s suspenders, striped suits, and fedoras for the gents; drop-waist dresses, cloche hats, gloves, and seamed stockings for the ladies. The night will feature a five-hour open bar, VIP bottle service, champagne toast at midnight and two headlining DJs who spin at some of the hottest music festivals and clubs, equipped with state-of-the-art sound and lighting that will have your suspenders and stockings off. Tickets are between $99 and $119.

Memberships are $30 annually and allow you and three guests entry each time you visit along with access to weekly Rum Society tastings and education. We may be heading into the 20s but get ready to party 1990 as Normandie Club’s hosting New Year’s Eve ’90s Prom! There’s no cover charge, but they are selling a limited quantity of open bar packages at $80 per person.
