Get Ready Because Powdered Alcohol Is Happening

Soon, you will be able to make cocktails by just adding water, thanks to a new powdered alcohol.

It was recently revealed by Bev Law that a product called Palcohol is in the works, and will soon be selling instant-cocktail powder to thirsty customers. In fact, preliminary copy on the Arizona-based company’s website includes several serving suggestions, including snorting it. (The company, Lipsmark LLC, insists that the verbiage wasn’t meant for public consumption and shouldn’t be taken seriously.)

There were initial reports of Palcohol’s approval, but now the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau explains that it gave approval to the Palcohol labels “in error” and the company is working to adjust the fill level – how much powder is in the bag – before resubmitting for approval. Once perfected, the recipe will be low-proof, with a 10 to 12 percent alcohol by volume – about the same as higher proof wine.

Either way, it’s only a matter of time before Cosmos, Lemon Drops and Powderita (basically a Margarita) will be available in a portable powdered form.
