Grady’s Cold Brew “coffee kegs” and cocktails coming to BFB Highline

It may not feel like it, but spring is nigh – and that means it’s almost Iced Coffee season. Very soon, our favorite New Orleans-style coffee concentrate, Grady’s Cold Brew, will be bringing their goods to BFB Highline, the newly opened burger spot on Gansevoort and helmed by former Breslin chef Chris Mitchell.

In addition to offering the Grady’s in the bottles that everyone has come to know and love, they are also planning to set up a special “coffee keg” and create Grady’s-based cocktails.

We spoke to Grady’s co-founder Dave Sands who explained that once the weather warms up, they plan to set up a rolling cart with a keg-type tap to serve Grady’s, with additional spouts for milk and milk alternatives.

“It’s going to be great,” Sands tells ThirstyNYC. “There will be a lot of people in the area, just walking around, especially on weekends. The Highline is right here so BFB Highline is an ideal place to set up.”

The hours have yet to be determined but Sands is pushing for early morning on weekends to make sure everyone gets their caffeine fix.

For customers looking for an adult beverage, Grady’s and BFB Highline are also collaborating on adding some Grady’s coffee cocktails.

“It’s great mixed with Guinness,” Sands point outs, adding,  “Another popular drink is Grady’s, whole milk, vodka and Kahlua – there is a version of this on the Meatball Shop menu called the Buzzed Lebowski – and I’ve also seen it mixed with a shot of silver tequila. And of course, the Espresso Martini.”

In the kitchen, Mitchell is also getting crafty, whipping up special sauces made with Grady’s to go with his delicious Pat LaFrieda burgers.

“I love having Grady’s at BFB and it’s been fun to get creative and see what we can do with it,” says Mitchell.

In addition to being available by the cup, the bottle and in BFB’s signature cocktails and sauces, Grady’s will also be peddling their brand new dry roasted coffee in a can – playfully named “Bean Bags.”

Expected to be available in the next couple of weeks, the “Bean Bags,” Sands says, are “easy for anyone.”

“You don’t need any fancy equipment to make a great cup of coffee with it,” he explains. “Just a Mason jar or any type of container will do.
