GupShup Brings a Splash of Color to NYC’s Summer

Heading into the dog days of August, New Yorkers everywhere are looking for their dining and drinking oasis. Tucked into Gramercy, GupShup offers an escape from its gray surroundings inside its two-story Bombay-meets-New York fusion. The décor and ambience of the restaurant pass any eye test immersing you in Hindi-script, stylized dishware, and even a wall of 3,000 tiffins honoring Mumbai’s dabbawallas.

To accommodate guests, GupShup added a permanent outdoor seating area over the summer which is as stylized and beautiful as it’s inside. The patio is decorated in streams of flowers, colorful lanterns, and art installations by South Asian artists.

The menu supports the gorgeous surroundings, with items such as the Delhi Butter Chicken and the Keema Pav serving as favorites. Naturally, a dish is only as good as the drink that accompanies it and GupShup offers a large and diverse cocktail menu. The cocktails embody a similar aesthetic to their locale, and the recipes are creative diversions from the standard, letting you taste test your way through. My Friend Baloo will be a staple of any dinner but don’t miss out on other offerings like the fun Ayurvedic Jackass or Monsoon Season.
