Every bar tries to go above and beyond to bring customers in right after work. Whether it’s a great drink deal, a live band, or free appetizers, there’s always a tactic to bringing in new business. The difficulty for customers lies in finding a place with a great deal that doesn’t attract a large crowd of noisy customers.
If you’re looking for a great deal in the Turtle Bay area, look no further than the aptly named Overlook. One of the few bars in the area maintaining an authentic, divey-persona while still having good service and food, Overlook manages to fill up each night without ever reaching a crowd size that will deter you.
The best time to grab a table underneath the cartoon-covered walls is before 7, when you can snag a two for the price of one drink deal that won’t be matched anywhere else in the area. The booths all have small televisions next to them, where you can find yourself watching a college basketball game or just jamming out to 80s music videos ranging from “Rebel Yell” to “Grease Lightning”.
If the music is too loud for your taste, though Overlook does a better job keeping a reasonable volume than most happy hour locations, then you can venture upstairs on nicer days to their outdoor space.
Located just a block from Grand Central, Overlook has a great neighborhood bar atmosphere that hasn’t been lost even when offering a deal that’s sure to attract new customers. If you’re looking for a low-key beer and burger after work and like a casual atmosphere, you’ll have trouble finding a better deal than at Overlook.
