Holi Hai at Rahi in NYC

The traditional Hindu festival of Holi is happening on March 20th and you are going to need a cocktail to celebrate. Also known as the “Festival of Colors” and the “Festival of Love”, Holi marks the end of winter and start of spring – we can only hope – and is typically commemorated by enjoying colorful dishes and drinks.

Perfect for the occasion is the Holi Hai from NYC’s Rahi. Created by bartender Yessenia Alvarez, the Holi Hai (available from March 20-24th) features spiced rum, lime juice, fresh mint, spiced Demerara and Magic ice for a both delicious and visually pleasing drink for the holiday.

“The cocktail was inspired by the bright colors and strong flavors of Holi,” explains Alvarez. “I wanted to create a festive cocktail that paints the canvas with different shades of bold colors and the spiced rum to bring in the extra kick that just screams ‘Holi’.”

Holi Hai recipe and preparation

  • 5 mint leaves
  • 1.5 oz, Demerara spiced gum syrup
