A piquant blend of orange mezcal, locally made Jullius bitters and lime with a chili salt rim., the Jullius Mezcalita is the Hotel Montefiore’s take on the classic margarita and a in the White City.
Concocted by Elad Shoham, Hotel Montefiore’s Head of Wine and Liquor, the Jullius Mezcalita is a refreshing springtime sip using Jullius Bitters Wild Herb elixir from an artisanal distillery in Northern Israel’s Galilee region, made from a wild herb indigenous to the Middle East that exudes a spiced-minty flavor and has properties that can holistically heal sore throats, treat stomach pains and decongests lungs.

“The Jullius Mezcalita is our local take for the classic margarita,” explains Shoham. “It incorporates mezcal with Jullius Bitters. herbal liqueur made only with local herbs and spices native to our region.”
Meanwhile, explains Shoham: “The mezcal – we use Montelobos – gives the cocktail it’s backbone and the distinct smoky scent.”

Jullius Mezcalita recipe
- 1.5 oz. IBA 40 Orange Mezcal
- 1 oz. Jullius Bitters
- 1 oz. Lime Juice
- .5 oz. Simple Syrup
- Angostura Orange bitters
Combine ingredients with ice and strain into a coupe glass with a chili salt rim.
