Katsuya South Beach: Miami Spice Drinking and Eating Guide

Miami Spice Restaurant Months is a summertime promotion of Miami‘s diverse cuisine, featuring special three-course menus at more than 240 restaurants at reduced prices, (Lunch/Brunch $23 and Dinner $39), from August 1 – September 30.  Katsuya South Beach, a participating restaurant at the SLS hotel (Where to Drink on South Beach), features the dynamic pairing of Master Sushi Chef Katsuya Uechi and design impresario Philippe Starck.

Katsuya South Beach is truly a feast for the senses, with specialty cocktails, unique rolls and sushi and sashimi platters inspired by Miami’s local Latin flavor. Here are our sensational drink recommends that pair well with Katsuya’s spectacular Miami Spice menu:

Crispy Rice Spicy Tuna at Miami Spice at Katsuya South Beach

As an appetizer, best selections include Crispy Rice  – grilled sushi rice, spicy tuna, Serrano pepper, Snapper Tiradito with spicy yuzu aji amarillo, or, my favorite, Watermelon Ceviche  -compressed watermelon, tuna, octopus, squid, white fish, wasabi peas

Sashimi at Miami Spice at Katsuya South Beach

The Omakase Sushi or Sashimi platter will be your natural go-to for your main entree, but consider the decadent Filet and Foie or tender and delish Braised Short Rib.

For dessert, you have the sweet options of Donuts with Coco Lopez sauce, or Sake Mousse Torte  – Sake-laced Black Sesame sponge cake with Kinako (roasted soy bean) Ice cream.
