Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa: For Travelers With A Taste For Tequila

Summer may be over, but that doesn’t mean you have to kiss the idea of spirits and sunshine goodbye. For tequila loving travelers, there is no better time to head south of the border to check out Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa.

The beachside resort, nestled along the pristine Banderas Bay with views of theSierra Madre Mountains, recently became the only Marriott destination in the world to bottle its own brand of tequila, Casamagna. Harvested from blue agave plants grown onsite at the hotel and in other parts of the Jalisco region of Mexico, the exclusive tequila is offered in blanco, reposado, añejo and extra añejo varieties.

From first time sippers to self-proclaimed connoisseurs, guests can book an unparalleled tasting experience with an official tequila sommelier. Audrey Formisano, the official tequilera of the resort, leads the hotel’s robust tequila education program. Originally from France with over 15 years in the industry, Formisano guides her tasters through the history behind tequila and Jalisco, painting but a true appreciation for the local culture.

Naturally, the resort doesn’t lack onsite locations to grab a drink outside the tastings including the new bi-level Nosh Sunset Bar + Bites overlooking the pool and ocean, Champions Sports Bar (so guests don’t miss a minute of the game while on vacay), casual Mexican restaurant La Estancia and an ultra-chic Ceviche & Tequila Bar boasting more than 180 tequilas, 12 kinds of draft beer, exclusive author cocktails and a great variety of sea-based bites. For a taste of Japan in Marina Vallarta, guests can pop into Mikado, a stylish restaurant offering made-to-order sushi, teppanyaki favorites and a mean lychee martini.

Providing a safer environment to sip, the resort, which recently completed a $20 million property-wide renovation, is currently complying with COVID-19 regulations including enchanted cleaning protocols, practicing social distancing and wearing face coverings whenever you’re in indoor public areas of the hotel. Additionally, the property has received the World Travel & Tourism Council’s Safe Travels Stamp of approval which certifies that the resort adheres to consistent global health and hygiene protocols.

In between rounds, guests can lounge at the renovated and totally instagramable infinity pool, indulge in a treatment at the decadent Ohtli Spa or explore the sites of nearby downtown PV. Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa has also partnered with government officials and local biologists to help with the conservation of local Ridley Sea Turtles. With its own hatchery on-site, the resort’s efforts alone have resulted in hundreds of thousands of baby sea turtles safely returned to the ocean. Guests of all ages are invited to participate in nightly sea turtle releases, making it one of the coolest and heartwarming experiences one can have in Mexico. Cheers to that!
