This summer, say Aloha to “Tiki Thursdays” at The Mixing Room. For the first time ever, the bar at JW Marriott Los Angeles L.A. LIVE is celebrating tropical pop up every Thursday from 5 p.m. to close, now through Sept 5.
The Mixing Room patio transforms into an island paradise with a DJ spinning island music, tropical décor adorning the walls and a playful cocktail menu featuring elaborate selections. The popular Sunset Sling is made with pea flower-infused St. Germain, Plymouth Gin, lime, pineapple and benedictine. The Sunken Temple is created with Mt. Gay Black Barrel, lychee, passion fruit coconut cream, pineapple and angostura bitters.
In the mood for something sweet? The Sun-Tanned Ande is made with Kraken Rum, pineapple, coconut milk, orgeat, choco bitters, Godiva and served in a cool black branded octopus mug.* If you are coming with a big group, order the ‘Akala which serves three to four, made with Malibu Lime raspberries, mint, grapefruit and angostura bitters.
Other cocktails include the Vic & Down made with Malibu Pineapple, Malibu Lime, orgeat, Pama and tiki bitters, the Head Hunter’s House-made with Vida Mezcal, mango, coconut, orange and Aperol and the Coconut Coast made with Mt. Gay, Flora De Cana, Cointreau, amaretto, coconut cream and angostura bitters.
The Mixing Room also serves up $7 Kona Big Wave Lager and $14 Kim Crawford Rosé $14.
Island cuisine to the luau party libation includes Hawaiian Fruit Salad with dragon fruit, kiwi, pineapple, mango and passionfruit, Crab Cake Sliders with pineapple chutney on a Hawaiian roll and Kalua Pork, a smoked pork shoulder with fresh pineapple salsa, Coconut Shrimp Skewers, Salmon Poke, Chicken Adobe and for dessert, the Halo Halo with crushed ice, condensed milk, ube and assorted toppings.
