Coney Island Lager to open a brewery

Get ready, Brooklyn: there is another brewery coming your way soon!

The company behind Coney Island Lager plans to open a full-scale brewery, The Brooklyn Paper reports. Plans are already underway and the company, which had been brewing out of Sideshows by The Seashore on West 12th and Surf Avenue rent-free until Hurricane Sandy demolished the space in 2012.

Originally owned by San Francisco’s Shmaltz Brewing Company, Coney Island Lager was sold to Alchemy in August 2013, after the devastating storm.

This is great news for the redevelopment of the coastline which has struggled to rebuild. And even better news for  beer lovers across Kings County.

The Coney Island Lager brewery will join the growing list of breweries in the borough,  including Brooklyn Brewery in Williamsburg, Kings County Distillery at the Brooklyn Navy Yard and Sixpoint Brewery in Red Hook.
