We love summer but there is nothing better than NYC in the fall. And to us that means so many new fall drink menus, including the one at Wallflower, where we tested out the autumn offerings from head bartender Xavier Herit, who formerly mixed drinks at renowned restaurant Daniel and the Hotel Plaza Athénée in Paris, where he was mentored by Theirry Hernandez.
If you are in the West Village and looking for great food with craft cocktails to match, then you need to stop into this little restaurant and at least grab one of their inventive and cheekily named cocktails (there are 11 new ones for fall.) There is the Shush with pineapple and chipotle infused vodka, while gin drinkers will love the Betty Draper, a concoction of Citadelle gin, sherry, green apple syrup, celery and lime.
But the ThirstyNYC favorite was the Cornelia, with Peublo Viejo Reposado tequila, jalapeno-infused Del Maguey Vida mezcal, corn puree, lime and basil oil. Trust us on this one.
The cocktails come paired with the food and the food at Wallflower is really delicious including a Rabbit and Trumpet Royal Terrine, celery remoulade and the ricotta with fennel and golden raisins.
