ALba Huerta and John Besh Join Forces for Hurricane Relief in NYC

 In Features

New York City has been known to be one of the most resilient and certainly is no stranger to the importance of coming together in times of need. On Sunday, September 24th, some of the hospitality industry’s heaviest hitters come together to support Hurricane Relief with the “NYC LOVES TX & FL” event at Pier A Harbor House.

The guests of honor are Alba Huerta, Owner/Operator of Houston’s acclaimed Julep and New Orleans Chef, Author and Activist John Besh. Besh was a major activist for Hurricane Katrina relief in his hometown and every cent raised at this event will be given to The John Besh Foundation that was established to provide crisis relief after storms, as well as scholarships and financial aid.

Support this incredible cause by joining this one-of-a-kind experience uniting some of city’s most illustrious bartenders and leading chefs serving their signature cocktails and small bites. The party will be rocking with DJ sets by Jillionaire of Major Lazor and bar industry vet, Tomas Delos Reyes, along with various live acts, burlesque, a short film and toasts throughout the evening. In addition, there will be a silent auction of items ranging from rare spirit collections, kayak trips, cocktail crawls, helicopter excursions and even four-day vacations, with all proceeds also benefiting the foundation.

The event came together with the passion and efforts of Journalist Jenny Adams, Speed Rack Co-Founder and Bartender Lynnette Marrero, and Alba Huerta, Owner/Operator of Julep in Houston, TX.  Jenny Adams explains, “We would have never recovered from Hurricane Sandy if it weren’t for the kindness of friends and strangers, and it’s time to pay that forward. All proceeds to JohnBeshFoundation.org”

This Sunday, Sep. 24, NYC's food & bev communities unite on behalf of those hurt by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. Every cent raised from this multi-room, pop-up-style experience will go to The John @beshfoundation, a 501(c)(3) established in the wake of Hurricane Katrina to provide crisis relief after storms, as well as scholarships and financial aid. 🍸🍹🥃 Cocktails from @blacktailnyc @cloverclubny @leyendabk @dantenewyorkcity @llamainnnyc @deadrabbitnyc @nitecapnyc @pouring_ribbons & more as well as small bites from some of the city's leading chefs 👩🏼‍🍳👨🏽‍🍳. ABOUT THE JOHN BESH FOUNDATION

The John Besh Foundation was formed in the wake of Hurricane Katrina and has been instrumental in both storm relief and scholarships for those in the food and beverage communities nationwide. Right now, the foundation’s teams are on the ground in Houston and surrounding areas, rolling up their sleeves to feed delicious meals, while simultaneously helping to tear down and then rebuild homes and businesses.

To date, The John Besh Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, has served more than 20,000 meals in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, and is now setting up additional operations in the hardest hit communities of Florida.
