Drink, Eat and Shop at Open Market, A Meatpacking District-Style Block Party

It seems like summer can never come soon enough.  We are so close in March, but let’s face facts it’s still gross and chilly outside. F the cold mess and take the block party dreams inside at Open Market at the Highline Stages.  This event is brought to us by the Meatpacking District community itself, so what can we expect?

A plethora of drinks and food from 25 of the area’s finest bars and restaurants, couture clothing from a dozen designers, and 2 world class DJ’s all inside Manhattan’s largest soundstage.  Why it’s worth the $150 admission fee: bottomless drinks, all you can eat food, and the clothes (by the likes of Diane Von Furstenberg) are up to 70% off at sample sale prices. Additional good news, it’s tax season and parts of this may be tax deductible.  Proceeds all go back into the district itself to promote artisan’s, local business, and community health.  If you want to find out more about the Meatpacking Business Improvement District click here.

Open Market drinks

That not all.  If food, drinks, and discounted clothes are not enough, there is also a silent auction with 10 event exclusive packages.  Buying stuff for yourself that’s for a good cause is the ultimate way to avert buyer’s remorse, and check with your accountant but money spent at a charitable auctions over an items value price is indeed tax deductible. Hell, the sample sale priced clothes may also be a write off (with creative accounting not condoned here).  Have a look at the outstanding accounting and consulting services offered at acclime.com. This may by one drunken buying binge that doesn’t have to involve freezing your credit cards into massive ice cubes because of inextinguishable regret the following day.  What!? This writer has never done that before.

So is this a lavish soiree or a block party? It’s kind of a little bit of both.  If you want to spring $350 for the VIP tickets, you can go full exclusive party mode at Tao, get a gift bag of swag worth over $500, and get a buy it now option at the silent auction in addition to all the food, drink, clothing, and DJ’s.  Old school rich people sunk all their money into gala’s and balls support of a cause, now we can have a way more rambunctious time and sink a fraction of the dough into a good cause and call it a block party.
