Paradise Lounge Brings Rum Shop Vibes To Ridgewood, Queens

Queens has been on the cocktail come up for quite some time and while Astoria and Long Island City are the neighborhoods most often mentioned when it comes to bars, Paradise Lounge in Ridgewood aims to change all of that. We got some of the early opening details from Paradise’s Operating Partner, brainchild behind the project and longtime friend of thirsty, Austin Hartman.

Mixing up some of that Caribbean cool Island life, equal parts tiki and neighborhood dive vibe, blended all up with copious amounts of rum, Paradise Lounge is giving bar fans a reason to get to to Ridgewood.

We have been waiting for Hartman’s return to the bar world after the closing of beloved Bushwick joint, Montana’s Trail House. For Paradise, he brought together some notable names including Erika Ordonez, Taylor Rae, Tonia Guffey, Blake Ventura and Jonathan Kobritz as part of the bar team. The menu is comprised of Island Traditionals, Modern Classics, Paradise Originals and Beer & Shot options.

However, after spending serious R&D time in Barbados, it is The Rum Shop offering that has got us the most excited. We asked Hartman about it and he shared, “The Rum Shop component was born out of my love for that style of enjoying rum and socializing with friends. I love Barbados, I love their Rum Shops and the concept. It’s been an experiment, but catching on – which has been a joyous surprise!”

Food offerings are provided Ed & Bev’s, brother/chef duo Max & Eli Sussman (Semisa), who are bringing their Riis Beach summer pop-up to a permanent location with food till 12am every night. Expect lots of rum related nightly specials, classes and dance parties where guests are encouraged to life on island time. Meet you in Paradise!
