Spooky Season is upon us and although you may not expect tropical Miami to be a hub of haunted Halloween revelry, but trust us, the 305 really loves to get into the spooky spirit. So we asked one of Miami's cocktail authorities, Giovanny Gutierrez aka Chat Chow TV to share one of his creepy concoctions that he created for The Commodore Bar at the Ritz Carlton in Coconut Grove - meet the Hannibal Lector inspired, "The Clarice" cocktail."
When tasked with creating a Halloween cocktail for the Ritz Carlton in Coconut Grove, I took a unique approach by putting a spooky twist on a lesser-known Cuban classic, the Obispo.
This drink is named after a famous street in Old Havana, translating to 'bishop' in Chess, and is traditionally made with Havana Club Blanco, lime, simple syrup, and red wine.My creative process led me to think of Chianti, which brought to mind the iconic scene from 'Silence of the Lambs' featuring Hannibal Lecter. With fava bean water for foam, I decided to pay homage to the infamous character after the chilling line, 'I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice Chianti,' followed by that unforgettable slurping sound (fft fft fftt fftt). That's how the cocktail 'Clarice' was born. Cheers to a spooktacular Halloween season!""
