Please Join Us To Host a Power Shift Event in Support of Reproductive Rights

On July 25th, thousands of spirits industry professionals will engulf New Orleans, Louisiana for the return of Tales of the Cocktail. Since the overturn of Roe v Wade, judges within Louisiana have jostled the legality of abortion back and forth causing confusion that has left patients and abortion providers scrambling as the courts have blocked, unblocked, and then reblocked the ban.

Now, those seeking abortions within Louisiana will have to travel outside of the state if they want guaranteed access to an abortion. To make matters more difficult, every one of the bordering states has also outlawed abortions, making the trip much longer and harder, costing more in lost wages as well as raising costs incurred for flights and travel.

We believe that our industry should continue to support New Orleans and fuel the city’s economy after the trials and tribulations that COVID brought upon the industry. However, the reality is that this financial influx to the state is also funding a government that doesn’t allow a person’s right to choose what happens to their body. We believe that we should raise funds to get the people of Louisiana the treatments they need, when they need them.

Today, we ask you to sign up for a nationwide event to raise money for abortion access in Louisiana. Our goal is to get as many bars across the country to sign up to host an event on August 18th, 2022, the 102nd anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment.

We suggest coming up with a sponsor partner to help support the event so we can maximize the amount we are able to raise for donation. Please create a special menu or minimum of one drink special, with at least 50% of proceeds donated to Lift Louisiana. If you and/or your staff is in the position to donate a portion of tips, we kindly encourage and suggest this as well.

Please sign up HERE.

All funds raised will be donated by the participating bars to Lift Louisiana, an organization that works to educate, advocate, and litigate for policy changes needed to improve the health and wellbeing of Louisiana’s women, their families, and their communities. Participating bars will be in charge of making their own donations and reporting to us the amounts.
