The Caipirinha is the National cocktail of Brazil and is made from Cachaça, a spirit that is derived from raw sugarcane. Combined with sugar and lime juice, cachaça is the perfect liquor to create a light and refreshing warm-weather cocktail. If you enjoy mojitos or margaritas then you will more than likely enjoy a Caipirinha.
Just like the Mojito and Margarita, there are thousands of variations on the traditional Caipirinha recipe that is listed below.
2 oz. cachaça
1/2 tsp. sugar
- Slice the lime into 1/2-inch rounds, cube them, and muddle them in an Old-Fashioned glass or small tumbler with the sugar.
- Add a couple of ice cubes.
- Pour in the cachaça.
