If you’re ever in Los Angeles, you need to make a stop at The BoardRoom.
The upscale French-inspired speakeasy lounge is actually a part of downtown Los Angeles’ restaurant, Kendall’s Brasserie. When Kendall’s went through a recent remodel, they saved a part of the space for what is now The BoardRoom. A dark and mysterious lounge, The BoardRoom is meant to be the boyfriend of Kendall’s.
The unique menu is filled with drinks named after famous writers, such as Virginia Woolf, Tennessee Williams and F. Scott Fitzgerald. Accompanied by live jazz music and poetry readings, you’d think you stepped right into a Parisian salon straight out of Woody Allen’s film, Midnight In Paris.
The Drinks at The BoardRoom
Tennessee Williams
First things first, this drink comes with a macaroon! Aside from being one of their most photogenic drinks, it also tastes like a flower – thanks to the orange flower water. A combo of Plymouth Gin, lemon juice, lime juice, egg white and cream, this is a must get when you visit The BoardRoom.
Gertrude Stein
One word – delicious. A mixture of Pimm’s, chamomile syrup, Tuaca, lime juice, sugar and lemon-lime soda, this is the refresher you’ve been looking for. Bonus points for the crushed ice, too.
Virginia Woolf (punch bowl)
This is a punchbowl everyone should get in on. Once ordered, an awesome staff member will come over and make your punchbowl right on your table. This punchbowl comes with a generous handful of fresh fruits like berries, lime and pineapple, topped with aged rum and champagne. Each punchbowl is meant to serve 6-8 people, but hey – who doesn’t like a good challenge?
William Faulkner
A rich and delicious blend of coconut-washed Four Roses Bourbon, demerara sugar, orange peel, and toasted pecan bitters, the Faulkner is just as brooding and mysterious as its namesake.
Frida Kahlo
A very simple and elegant drink with just 4 ingredients: Ilegal Joven Mescal, Aperol, lime and Giffard vanilla. Because sometimes less is more.
Looking for a nibble after all those drinks? The BoardRoom has an impressive menu, featuring Escargot, a French Dip sandwich, Uni Deviled Eggs and a decadent burger. You can’t go wrong here.
