Seven Reasons Opens In D.C. Serving Up Lots of Pan-Latin Reasons To Visit

Washington D.C. has been experiencing quite the boom with cool hospitality concepts opening in the District.  The latest buzz has been surrounding Seven Reasons, the newly opened Latin American inspired restaurant by Chef Enrique Limardo from Baltimore and Miami-based Valentina Story. Hailing from Caracas, Venezuela, Chef Enrique’s menu will honor his native cuisine as well as incorporate other Latin culinary influences from Peru, the Amazon regions and the Caribbean.

The talented Josue Gonzalez was tapped to lead the beverage program as Bar Manager. Hailing from Miami, Florida, Gonzalez cut his bar teeth at Lure Fishbar Miami, DÔA Miami Beach, 27 Restaurant and thirsty favorite, Sweet Liberty.  Moving to D.C., he recently bartended at Bresca and St. Anselm in D.C. Tapping into his Cuban latino roots, he crafted the Seven Reasons drink menu with inspiration from the diversity of South America and the Caribbean. The cocktail list showcases Rum, Cachaça, Pisco, Tequila, and Mezcal as well as Sake and Shochu as nods to the strong Japanese communities in South America. The drinks menu also offers several zero-proof mixed drink options for those who want to skip the booze.

Infusing flavors of the Amazon, Gonzalez is using exotic fruits, vegetables and spices from the region. “As a culinary school graduate, I’m equally passionate about food and drink,” Gonzalez shares. “Sustainability is important to us, and Chef Enrique and I will work together to ensure that every part of each ingredient is used either in the kitchen or behind the bar.”

“Seven is the seeker, the person who is intuitively trying to find the truth by looking for something different and unique,” said Chef Limardo. “We want to unlock surprising culinary experiences for our guests by using techniques such as freeze dry, sous vide, liquid nitrogen, and dry ice treatments. Our purpose is to recreate Latin-inspired dishes to be experienced in new ways through unexpected flavors and fun, innovative plating that reminds the diner of the landscapes where the foods come from.”

Seven Reasons ins now open Tuesday – Thursday 5:30 p.m. – 11 p.m.; Friday and Saturday 5:30 p.m. – 12 a.m.; and Sunday from 5:30 p.m. – 11 p.m and when the warm weather hits, will feature an outdoor patio.
