Drink This Now: Surfboard Cocktail at Otis with El Gobernador Pisco

Summer might be coming to a close, but the Surfboard cocktail at Otis in Brooklyn, New York is keeping those warm weather vibes going strong.  Created by Channing Centeno, Head Bartender & Creative Director at Otis, the Surfboard is built with El Gobernador Pisco as the base.  Centeno explains, “The drink uses 1.5oz of pureé, so I wanted to feature a base spirit that not only offered fortification and a round mouth feel but also adds super pleasant aromatics. El Gobernador’s grape fragrance shines through and really enhances the cocktail.”

Known for his sexy bartending style, especially as Co-Founder of Tiki & Slow Jams, you know that Channing had to add a little of his signature flavor to the drink. “Seeing watermelons pop up at bodegas and grocery stores is one of my favorite signs of summer in New York City. The name comes from a lyric in the song Drunk in Love by Beyoncé. In the song she (Beyoncé) has “been drinking watermelon” and after she fills up her bathtub she rides Jay-Z like a “surfboard”. I wanted that to be the star of the show via our house watermelon pureé. It finishes on the fruitier side so a little lick of basil salt at the end balances out what’s happening on your palette,” Channing adds with some NSFW action.

Head to Otis for the Surfboard cocktail and stay for Channings dance moves.
