On The Move: Sweetwater Social set to open this week

Sweetwater Social to open this week in space below Bleecker Kitchen & Co.

We recently sat down for brunch and cocktails with Bleecker Kitchen & Co.‘s Tim Cooper and Justin Noel. Well, now the guys are prepping for the opening of their newest spot, Sweetwater Social, a subterranean lounge in the space below Bleecker Kitchen & Co. Cooper and Noel are teaming up with Goldbar partners Shaun Rose and Udi Vaknin for Sweewater, which will pay homage to New York with classic neighborhood-themed cocktails like the “Big Trouble, Little China” – toasted sesame-infused bourbon, simple syrup, fresh lemon juice, cucumber, salt tincture and club soda garnished with a cucumber slice – and the “Little Italy” with Dimmi Italian Liquore di Milano, Punt e Mes vermouth, Aperol, dry vermouth, orange oil. There will be small plates for hungry drinkers as well as games including foosball and shuffleboard. Sweetwater Social, 643 Broadway, 212.253.0477 [NY Post, Earlier]

The Roost brings coffee, beer and Balthazar parties to the East Village

There are tons of coffee shops in the East Village but The Roost – by Vito DiTomaso, the former owner of Luca Lounge – is sure to be the new darling of the neighborhood, thanks to its Brooklyn Roasting Company single origin beans, Balthazar pastries, fresh flowers, free Wifi, “no plastic policy” – and beer. Starting tomorrow, The Roost will have 16 lines of craft beer which DiTomaso will also be serving to go in growlers. The Roost, 222 Avenue B, nr. 13th St.; coffee shop is now open daily from 8 p.m. to 7 p.m. The bar opens this Wednesday and will be open nightly. [Bedford + Bowery
