The new(ish) Tales of the Cocktail Foundation is once again proving that they are taking a new path for cocktail culture and the city of New Orleans by opening up a permanent event space and cocktail bar. The new dual concept will be located at 129 Camp Street, currently Pigeon & Prince, at the edge of the French Quarter and their lease will begin January 1, 2019. This is all part of the Tales of the Cocktail Foundation’s goal of expanding their reach to a 365 day a year operation above and beyond the main festival.
The event space will be called Storyteller x Tales (verbally read “Storyteller by Tales,”) and the cocktail bar will aptly be named Tales of the Cocktail Bar. Although we don’t have specifics on programming, the first event series is tentatively scheduled to kick off in February 2019. The bar will follow later in the year and reps describe it will be, “steeped in New Orleans tradition and pay reverence to the classics, it simultaneously aims to be forward-looking, embracing the industry’s evolution and progress.” No word yet if Co-Chair, Neal Bodenheimer (Cure, Cane & Table), will be leading the bar program, but fingers crossed.
We asked about where the proceeds from the new concept would go and got this back from reps of the TOTCF, “We can confirm the event space is non-profit. We are looking into licensing with the bar currently; our intention is to make that non-profit as well, pending it’s legally compliant. We will keep you posted.”
