Despite The Pandemic, The Industry Shares Reasons To Be Thankful In 2020

No one needs us to lament on how 2020 has been the year of all things unprecedented when it comes to hardship and loss. Amidst what seems to be continuous disappointments and tumultuous states of mental & physical health, it is hard to stay positive and find reasons to be thankful.

So, as we often do, we turned to some of our Thirsty Friends & Family for inspiration and some feel-good feels to remind ourselves that even in the worst of times, there is always a silver lining and something to be thankful for … and a big thank you to everyone who is part of the Thirsty family around the world.

I’m thankful that I have an amazing partner that was able to make to the U.S .from the U.K .before the borders closed and nursed me through Covid-19. I’m thankful we were able to get married despite the world going to hell. I’m thankful that my work with Doom Tiki is getting Indigenous communities and industry the visibility we deserve.

Jose A Gonzalez

I’m thankful that I’ve been able to help where I can. Seeing our community/industry/friends come together and help each other with what we’ve got gave me some encouragement to keep keeping on. Los Tlacuaches were able to create two popups in the beginning of the summer to help support BIPOC-owned local organizations.

A handful of us shifted slightly and are delivering prepared meals to high-risk seniors for the winter and I’m truly so thankful to be able to order zyban online. I love our industry more than ever and I’m so thankful for people coming together and helping each other and others.

In a year like 2020, when everything that could go wrong has, finding things to be thankful for have been surprisingly easy for me. My children, my health, and the opportunity to be able to still make a little bit of a living, and all my family and friends, I am truly thankful for. Many haven’t been as fortunate, and I feel that I am truly blessed. I always tend to try and find the positive in a world full of negative.

Joanna Carpenter

I’m thankful for my health and safety which literally clears the path for everything else I’m grateful for. Also very thankful for this hospitality community and the magical humans in it.

Anthony Nader

To have been able to stop and look in the mirror this year has been a benefit afforded to me only with the world having stopped. I’m getting older, and I’m excited about it because I’ve journaled my most exciting years, having captured spastic emotions and happenings into blurry, nonsequential entries then that have become valuable and clear data on myself. I’m know where I’m at, and I still have time to plan and design my life before the world and I take off again.

Erica Michelle

I’m thankful for the opportunity to work for a company I may not have thought of otherwise! The timing was right and job security in general right now is huge, but as it turns out it’s a wonderful fit and I’m super happy with them!

Jennifer Dickey

Thankful to be working for a brand that is fun and playful and brings smiles to peoples faces when things are good and when things are tough. Beer brings us all together.

Gayle Seale

I am thankful for all the amazing members of the Global Rum Room that show up every Friday night from around the world on zoom to keep us all connected and laughing together on Friday nights.

Suzanne Thornton Henricksen

At The Crafty Cask we are thankful for our corporate clients. Doing corporate virtual tastings certainly wasn’t in the business plan in 2019, but this opportunity has allowed us to sell over $150k in independently owned, craft booze, introduce thousands of consumers to these small brands, and help employ others in the industry who were struggling as our hosts. Such a great example of big corporate money doing good in an unexpected way while helping our company truly live its mission of supporting and celebrating craft alcohol makers.

Jen Marshall

I’m thankful for the light at the end of the tunnel.

Amen, Jen Marshal … AMEN!  We hope everyone stays safe, healthy and as happy as possible this holiday season. Be kind, wear a mask, and we look forward to seeing you on the other side. Love, Thirsty
