The Leg Lamp at Salt

The Marina Del Rey Hotel’s SALT restaurant is getting into the holiday spirit with its Merry Time On The Marina festive cocktail menu. A boozy homage on the classic 1983 movie, “A Christmas Story,” The Leg Lamp is made with tequila, white cranberry rosemary syrup, Khalani Coconut Liqueur, Cointreau and lemon juice. Franco’s Baba Rum Flambe at Gilles

The Franco’s Baba Rum Flambé at Montage Beverly Hills’ latest pop-up restaurant, Gilles @ Montage Beverly Hills, is for those who can’t decide whether to end the night with a cocktail or a dessert. The Franco’s Baba Rum Flambé is a flaming dessert soaked in hot Myers Rum or Sailor Jerry syrup, infused with vanilla pods, served tableside. The Baba portion of the dessert is a small yeast cake commonly served in Paris and the rum is just that – vanilla-infused rum syrup heated, lit on fire and poured directly onto the cake. To present the dish, a Baba Rum cart is wheeled out tableside and Chef heats a small copper pot of rum and then ignites the liquid before pouring it over the cake. Once the cake has cooled off, Chef covers the dish in vanilla cream. Some guests might want to skip their nightcap and eat the theatrical (not to mention alcoholic) Baba Rum instead.
