It may be the dead of summer, but things are getting dark at the 1 Hotel South Beach with the Dark Side cocktail at the hotel property. Made with a blend of charcoal-infused mezcal, Giffard Pamplemousse (a zesty and floral pink grapefuit liqueur)and lime, this pitch-black drink is a creative take on the classic margarita, with a unique hue from the charcoal.
“Smokey mezcal, dark charcoal and tart grapefruit transport you to being beachside right before a storm,” says Steven Minor, Beverage Director at 1 Hotel South Beach. “Made to have a Darth Vader-esque look and feel, the Dark Side is a riff on a margarita substituting mezcal for tequila, Giffard Pamplemousse for orange liqueur and activated charcoal for color.”
The Dark Side recipe and preparation

- .75 oz Giffard Pamplemousse
