Despite the challenges facing the industry, many bar owners are trying to maintain optimism and flexibility to adapt to the ever-changing COVID19-impacted marketplace. Closures, restricted hours and limited occupancy have created a need to be extra creative just to try to keep up.
Many of the best bars in the country have started selling to-go cocktails which has the dual purpose of extending the beverage program while allowing guests the opportunity to savor their favorite cocktails at home. Industry vets Sean Kenyon (2014 Bartender of the Year at ToTC and Nightclub & Bar Show) and Andy Seymour (2018 Best Bar Mentor ToTC) will be discussing this important trend during an hour-long live stream, presented by Johnnie Walker. Along with Thirsty and Liquid Productions, this virtual discussion will provide a thorough overview of the drinks-to-go landscape and the opportunities and challenges of running a successful and efficient to-go program.
“So much of what we do is based on the idea of taking the drinks we all love and bringing them to larger audiences,” explains Seymour, owner of Liquid Productions, “Understanding how To-Go Cocktails can help make an impact, we just wanted to share whatever knowledge we can to help extend this idea into the business model for bars of all types.”

To-Go cocktails can stand-alone to drive revenue or enhance other bar and restaurant services like outdoor dining and take-out. They provide a platform for the bar’s most loyal patrons to support the bars and bartenders they love and respect (even if they can’t sit down in their favorite barstools yet).
“Obviously, everyone is taking a massive financial hit during all of this and bars are trying to generate revenue by any means,” says Sean Kenyon, a third-generation barman, whose family has been pub owners and bartenders in New Jersey since the 1930s. “We’d love to share some of our first-hand experience from these last several months to help others reap the benefits of a drinks-to-go program and ways it can drive sales not just now but also as things move forward.”
The session, presented by Johnnie Walker, will provide an in-depth look at the opportunities available, assistance with determining what the right To Go Program might be for your establishment, how to extend the program (with kits and/or cocktail classes) and some tips on making efficient and profitable cocktails (including Johnnie Walker Highballs!)
