It’s all about the gin at Chef Aaron Robbins’ Sherman Oaks spot SOCA. While SOCA is known for its steak and seafood dishes, we are all about the curated Spanish Gin & Tonic program, a menu featuring six different varieites of the cocktail including the Spanish G&T No. 6 with Malfy fin, Fever Tree Indian tonic, Shiso leaf, strawberry and pink peppercorn.
“SOCA has a relaxed, coastal Mediterranean resort kind of vibe, so Spanish gin and tonics naturally struck us as the perfect cocktail to compliment both the atmosphere and Chef Robins’ cuisine: bright, fresh flavors, a focus on quality ingredients, and an elevated spin on something very familiar and comfortable,” GM/partner Rory Snipes tells Thirsty.
There are other options including the Spanish G&T No. 1 with Gin Mare, fever Tree Mediterranean tonic, kumquats and thyme and the Spanish G&T No. 4 with Few Breakfast gin, Fever Tree Mediterranean tonic, Meyer lemon peel, chocolate mint and dehydrated blueberry. We suggest trying them all.
Spanish G&T No. 6 Recipe and Preparation
- 2 oz. Malfy gin
- 3 oz. Fever Tree Indian tonic
- 3 strawberry slices
- 1 Shiso leaf
- 4-5 pink peppercorns
Combine the gin and Fever Tree tonic in a large goblet filled with ice. Garish with remaining ingredients so that the aromatics fill the glass.
