The Valley can be overlooked with all of the eclectic neighborhoods Los Angeles has to offer. There are hidden gems in all areas, but the Thirsty Merchant in Valley Village is definitely a spot you should consider checking out next time you’re in the area. If you are into a chill, kick-back bars, this is the place to be.

The venue is open and spacious including an indoor-outdoor bar but the best part of the experience is the variety of games to play, such as book of ra trucchi per vincere. Indoors you can find darts and pool while the outside area has built-in bocce ball courts, corn hole and foosball. The environment has a very Austin, Texas vibe which gives it a unique touch making you feel as if you are in another city.

But what about the drinks? There is an extensive menu which includes diverse options of beers and delicious cocktails. My personal favorite was the Hot Lips cocktail, with jalapeño-infused vodka, mezcal, lime, pineapple juice and vanilla simple syrup which really adds a nice touch to the flavor. If you are a bourbon lover, I recommend trying the Big Texan with bourbon, grapefruit juice, simple syrup, and basil.

The food menu offers countless shared plate items including smoked wings, fried cheddar cheese curds with housemade marinara and pan-fried dumplings served with sesame ginger dressing, just to name a few. You absolutely need to try their buffalo cauliflower which is battered and lightly fried served with garlic buffalo and jalapeno ranch. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!

It’s refreshing to come across a place where you can go have a low key day or night that includes food, drinks, and games which you may be able to read more of here. Whether you are going on a date or hanging with friends, the Thirsty Merchant is definitely worth the experience.
