It’s finally really winter, and we got Masa Urushido, bartender at Saxon & Parole, to makes us a Truffle Old Fashioned off of their seasonal menu. If you like truffles (and who doesn’t like truffles?) then head over to this Noho restaurant and order a couple of these cocktails.

If you are ambitious then you can try and recreate this cocktail at your home. You will just need to do some prep.

Truffle Old Fashioned

Preparation:

You will need to Fat-Wash a whiskey of your choice with white truffle butter and make the Smoked Portobello Mushroom cordial. Once you have those then you just need to make the cocktail.

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 oz fat-washed bourbon or whiskey, with white truffle butter.
  • A couple of dashes of Chocolate bitters.
  • .75 oz Smoked Portobello Mushroom Cordial
  • Lemon twist
  • Garnish with a slice of shaved truffle.

Instructions:

Add ice to a mixing glass, add the chocolate bitters, smoked portobello mushroom cordial, and whiskey. Stir until the outside of the glass is cold. Strain over large ice cube in a rocks glass. Add a twist of lemon ( express and discard,) and finally, garnish with a slice of freshly shaved truffle.
