Since opening in February 2021, Omega Mart at AREA15 has drawn in more than 1 million visitors who have gone on mysterious quests and have found many hidden experiences inside the massive art exhibition. “When you’re passing through the doors, it’s an unexpected environment,” says Spencer Olsen, art director for Meow Wolf. “Go curious and be ready to explore.”
One of the many highlights is Datamosh, a secret bar, (or should we say a pharmacy set in another dimension), tucked away at the north end of the grocery store section of Omega Mart. “It’s meant to be a break from the exhibit but also very clearly still an art experience,” he says.
To create the perfect cocktail menu for Datamosh, Meow Wolf called upon Happy Hour Agency, a woman-owned creative agency based out of Los Angeles. “Meow Wolf is about creating compelling environments and experiences for people. Happy Hour Agency was the perfect combination of both of those things for the bar.”
With the cocktail menu, the Meow Wolf team aimed for a “more sophisticated cocktail experience with the bright colors, psychedelic approach.” And Happy Hour Agency did just that while Meow Wolf’s creative team worked on everything from deciding on glassware to flavor profiles.
Datamosh currently offers seven eccentric cocktails which all bring something different to the bar scene. One cocktail uses apple blossom bitters and buzz buttons, while another is an electric blue twist on a classic Old Fashioned. There’s also a stunning drink that mixes mezcal and Lillet blanc, then topped off with a rosemary bubble filled with smoke.
All of the drinks are fun and playful, which makes a trip here well worth it. For the full cocktail menu, we highlight each drink below and touch on everything that goes into making them. In addition to the signature cocktails, Datamosh also features Day Ghost, a beer made exclusively for Meow Wolf by Marble Brewing.
