Miami Beach’s outpost of Yardbird Southern Table & Bar attracts cocktail-loving foodies with their inventive Southern comfort food and bourbon bar. For the Thanksgiving holiday, this rustic hotspot has an added attraction – The Turkey Leg cocktail, made with Wild Turkey bourbon and homemade spiced cranberry puree. The $14 specialty drink will be available at Yardbird Miami Beach and Yardbird Las Vegas locations.
“There isn’t a more iconic Thanksgiving condiment than cranberry sauce, so I wanted to incorporate that into a cocktail to pair with all my favorite foods on T-Day. I decided to use Wild Turkey because, Turkey Leg? Come on,.” shares Yardbird Beverage Director, Joshua Holliday. “Also, it’s great Bourbon, and the flavors meld together quite nicely. Happy Turkey Day!”

The Turkey Leg Cocktail Recipe and Preparation
- 1.5 oz Wild Turkey 81 Bourbon
- .75 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
- .75 oz Simple Syrup
- .75 oz Spiced Cranberry Puree
- 1 Dash Angostura Orange Bitters
- Splash of Sparkling Wine
Shake first 5 ingredients with ice and strain through a fine mesh strainer into a Mason Jar filled with ice, top with Sparkling Wine. Garnish with Fresh Cranberries and an Orange Twist.
For the Spiced Cranberry Puree:
- 16 oz Fresh or (Frozen) Cranberries
- 1 Cup Water (3⁄4 Cup if using frozen cranberries)
- 1 Cup Granulated Sugar
- .5 Cup Dark Brown Sugar
- 1 Orange – Zested and Juiced
- .5 a Nutmeg Seed – Grated
- .25 TSP Whole Cloves (4-6 each)
- .5 TSP Allspice Berries (8-10 each)
- .5 TSP Ground Bay Leaves
Add all ingredients and bring to a boil then reduce heat and simmer until all the cranberries have split and the sauce becomes thick, (about 20 minutes). Let cool to room temp then puree in a food processor or blender, now ready to use or store for a later date. Can be sealed in container in the cooler for up to 7 days.
