A new year brings new experiences. One of the newest spots to hit the scene is Legacy Club, located atop Circa Resort & Casino in Downtown Las Vegas.
“Legacy Club pays tribute to the founding fathers, entrepreneurs, and pioneers that made Las Vegas what it is today,” says Sam Pulliam, Circa’s director of beverage.
The entryway walls are adorned with metal busts of iconic Las Vegas figures. Inside the rooftop lounge, you’ll find a collection of black-and-white photos and a mesmerizing 1,000-ounce gold display. As far as the beverage menu, Legacy Club offers shareable cocktails, a build-your-own Old Fashioned bar and drinks crafted by skilled mixologists, which Pulliam highly recommends.
“With our cocktail program, we wanted to pay tribute to classic cocktails that made the bartending scene what it is today while keeping things modern and exciting,” he says. “Plus, to tie-in with our gold bar display, we needed to incorporate a lot of gold into our cocktails.”
Whether you choose to relax in style in the main lounge or on the outdoor terrace, which features fire pit seating and panoramic views, you should consider the Legacy Club, Nevadan, Writer’s Block or Nopalita for your drink of choice.
Legacy Club
First up is a cocktail named after the venue. Pulliam says the Legacy Club drink is a take on a Clover Club, a cocktail that predates Prohibition. “We replaced the traditional raspberry syrup with a prickly pear syrup to add a touch of the Southwest to the drink. Absolut Elyx adds some legs while Ramazzotti, an Italian Amaro, gives it balance and depth. The elegant, silky mouthfeel has you asking for another.”
Nevadan
Another great drink with a historic name is the Nevadan, Legacy Club’s unique version of the Manhattan. “We use Frey Ranch Rye, a whiskey native to Nevada, where all of the grains for the whiskey are grown and cultivated on the Frey Ranch farm,” Pulliam says. “The rye is the star of the show in this well-balanced classic.” The cocktail also features Grand Marnier and Foro Amaro, which is a herbal-based Italian liqueur.
Writer’s Block
Continuing along the Legacy Club cocktail journey, next up is the Writer’s Block. “This twist on a Hemingway daiquiri maintains the balance of grapefruit juice, lime, and simple syrup while replacing the classic rum with Empress 1908 gin and maraschino liqueur with Italicus and Aperol,” Pulliam says. “This cocktail explodes with fragrance, rich with botanicals and hints of rose and lavender. A gold-dusted grapefruit chip sits atop this refreshing libation.”
Nopalita
Another one of Legacy Club’s signature cocktails is the Nopalita. According to Pulliam, this margarita riff gets its name from nopal, which is Spanish for cactus. “We found a balance between Teremana Blanco tequila and Montelobos Joven mezcal, to add just the right amount of smokiness to this refreshing prickly pear cocktail,” he says. “Topped with a spiced orange ginger ale and gold-dusted cranberries, it is effervescent and light, while also deep and complex with a variety of complementary flavors.”
