Whiskey Feast Heads to Brooklyn with Over 40 Whiskeys

We love whiskey and we love feasting, so when we were asked to be part of Whiskey Feast at Brooklyn Expo Center on Saturday, November 19th, we said, “duh!”  The inaugural festival will pair 40+ whiskies and cocktails with 20+ seasonal dishes from local chefs and restaurants. The growing list of participating bars includes Analogue, Black Rabbit, The Moonlight Mile, and Dram Bar. Mighty Quinn’s, Blue Smoke, Home Frite, Bareburger, and Tres Carnes will also be serving up original dishes on site.

Guests can choose from General Admission two sessions: afternoon (2-4:30pm) or evening (7-9:30pm), upgrade to an Early Access ticket for half hour early entrance, or opt for the full VIP experience. VIP ticket holders will enjoy one hour early entrance and access to a specialty lounge with handcrafted cocktails; additional whiskey tastes; and exclusive, complimentary dishes. General Admission tickets are currently selling at $69, Early Access tickets are selling at $89, and VIP tickets are selling at $125. All tickets include a souvenir tasting glass. S

Here is a cocktail we are looking forward to trying.
“The Kickback”
From Garfunkel’s Lead Mixologist Jason Rodriguez

-2 dashes Bittermen’s Xocolatl Mole Bitters
-2 dashes Bittermen’s Transatlantic Modern Aromatic Bitters
-1/4 oz Jalapeño Agave
(Agave Syrup 3:1 agave to water, remove stems from 3 jalapeños, blend fresh and strain)
– 2 oz LA 1 Whiskey

•build in a rocks glass, quick stir to dilute a touch

Glass: Rocks
Garnish: Dehydrated jalapeños sliced the long way placed in the glass standing up on the side of the ice

Inspiration: a classic old fashion made the right way is one of my favorite drinks to have. Over the years I have fallen in love with a modern classic The Revolver, which is a take on an old fashion built with orange bitters, a coffee liquor and bourbon, so this drink stems from the both. It is built like an old fashion and “The Kickback” is a nod to the revolver as a the kickback from a gun with the heat of the jalapeño that comes through in the drink.
