Poppy Opens in West Hollywood With A-List Crowd, Designer Bottle Service

If you have noticed more paparazzi than usual on La Cienaga Blvd., you can thank h.wood Group’s John Terzian and Brian Toll for opening their newest endeavor, Poppy. Nestled in the space once occupied by STK, the West Hollywood newcomer – it opened on August 24 – has already attracted an A-List crowd including Katy Perry, Kourtney Kardashian, Paris Jackson, Madison Beer, Cara Delevingne and Christina Milian.

In a surreal, storybook setting, the hybrid nightclub, from the same team behind hotspots The Nice Guy, Bootsy Bellows and Delilah, totally transports revelers into a unique fantasy world. Inspired by “stream-of-consciousness, psychology and literature,” industry-leading designer John Sofio recreated this vision with a garden-inspired entrance leading into two main euphoric experiences; the kaleidoscope library and the fashion-inspired atrium (which gives us major Gucci vibes).

“Designing Poppy was a thrilling challenge,” says Sofio, owner of Built Inc. “Transforming a restaurant into a lush nightlife experience was the challenge. My design creates an exhilarating feeling unlike anything in Los Angeles.”

Sofio’s whimsical decor includes acid-stained, antique mirrors, fabric patterns on the couches inspired by the latest Paris runways, dark tones of rich mahogany and warm, opulent lights which float majestically overhead.

More of an experience than a venue, Poppy guests find themselves among the fantastic bohemian cast of mermaids, peacocks, garden gypsies, baroque layers, human animals and swinging storytellers. Poppy partiers can take it all in while dancing to the DJ beats, lounging in the indoor/outdoor patio area and receiving personalized poems or caricature portraits. Poppy also features a private room housing an exclusive bar under a curved upholstered ceiling where the VIPs usually settle in.

While there is not a set cocktail program at Poppy, their bottle service is an event in itself. Bottled spirits are encapsulated in oversized roses, oyster shells and crystallized bathtubs, presented by their matching role-playing hostesses.

“Poppy is our newest inspiring step and fresh addition for our brand,” says Terzian. “We really love creating different worlds with our special collection of upscale lounge atmospheres for our family and friends. We are taking Poppy to the next level and will essentially be the live version of a surrealism painting. It’s the most innovative concept with a dream sequence that we have aspired and achieved for within the h.wood Group portfolio.”
