Here’s yet another spot to add to the must-visit list in Williamsburg: wine bar Denizen has opened just steps from Bedford Avenue from a team of Union Square Hospitality alums. Serving wine, light bites as well as dinner and brunch, Denizen is the latest spot to check out now.
Certified Fromager Emily Lindh helms the cheese program, bringing varieties like peppery Cayuga Blue goat cheese from New York State alongside imported selections like Brebirousse d’Argental, a sweet and silky sheep’s milk cheese from Italy (they pair perfectly with a glass of vino).
Meanwhile chef John Poiarkoff whips up dishes like Mama’s Foie (chicken liver, foie gras, sour cherries and sourdough), Pennsylvania Pork Belly and Smoked Whitefish as well as brunch items like French Onion Toast, Whipped Ricotta Toast and Mushroom Flatbread.
The wine options range from Old World to American options, as well as biodynamic and organic offerings. And please don’t miss the wine-based cocktails: the Roebling Royale with Prosecco, orange bitters and simple syrup or the Parkside Gent, a blend of Ruby Port, lemon juice, quince simple syrup, egg white and bitters.
Welcome to the neighborhood.
