La Condesa in Austin is known and loved for its outstanding TexMex fare and for helping kickstart the now vibrant 2nd Street District. The James Beard “Best New Restaurant” Award nominee is celebrating its 10th anniversary of serving serious food to downtown Austin.
But let’s not forget La Condesa’s creatively curated cocktails, like the El Cúbico. Made with tobacco-infused reposado tequila, vanilla-infused Spanish brandy, lemon juice, Grilled pineapple nectar and agave, this drink is just an example of the serious thought and preparation that goes into the drinks at La Condesa.
El Cúbico recipe and preparation
- 1.5 oz. tobacco-infused Cazadores Reposado Tequila*
- .75 oz. vanilla-infused Spanish brandy
- 1 oz. fresh lemon juice
- .75 oz. grilled pineapple nectar
- .25 oz. organic agave nectar
Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice and shake vigorously for 10 to 15 seconds. Pour contents over ice in a snifter glass rimmed with house-made saffron and volcanic rock salt. Garnish with a mist of smoky mezcal essence on top of the drink.
*To make the tobacco-infused Cazadores Reposado Tequila:
Combine 4 grams of ligero tobacco leaves with a 750 ml bottle of Cazadores Reposado. Set a timer to soak the tobacco leaves in the tequila for no more than 4 hours. It is critical that the tobacco does not over-infuse. The nicotine can concentrate in the tequila, potentially causing health concerns.
